Here is some general set up advice for the aquarium external filter range:
Important: Disconnect mains electricity supply before handling or attempting maintenance. Always fully read and check the troubleshooting section within your product instruction manual.
1.) After completely rinsing your media, the activated carbon should go in the top basket, then bio balls in the middle and ceramic rings in the bottom. If you have four trays you can split the bio balls between two trays or fill this with more media of your choice. The foams can go on the top or bottom of the media and one in each tray although you can stack them all at the top.
2.) Activated carbon should be replenished every 3-6 months and the UV bulb should be changed every 6-8 months for optimum results.
3.) When cleaning, there are tabs on the hose adaptor fittings on the insides and if you haven’t fully pushed the hose adaptors on to the unit, the shut off lever sometimes catches on the locking tabs as it is moved up and down. Ensure all seals and o-rings are well lubricated after each clean.
4.) Always fully open and close the taps using the lever. You’ll need to hold down the tap adaptor when lifting the lever for a safe removal.
