If you suspect the impeller is causing issues with your filter, follow these simple steps to check and diagnose any potential problems. Remember, a malfunctioning impeller can significantly reduce water flow, and it's essential to check it regularly.
Important Safety Notice
Before starting any maintenance:
Unplug the filter from the mains electricity supply.
Always refer to your product instruction manual for specific guidance. Can be found on the product page of the item you purchased.
Step 1: Turn Off the Unit
Ensure the filter is completely powered off before starting any checks.
Step 2: Unclip the Head Unit
Use the side clips to detach the motor head from the main body of the filter.
Place the head unit upside down to expose the impeller area.
Step 3: Access the Impeller
On the underside of the motor head, you’ll see a center piece with four spindles.
Twist the spindles to unlock the cover and reveal the impeller.
Step 4: Check the Impeller's Condition
Gently remove the impeller from its housing.
Inspect the fan piece: It should rotate halfway and then stop.
If the fan rotates completely 360°, this indicates a faulty impeller that needs replacement.
Step 5: Check for Blockages
Impeller issues are often caused by debris or algae that wrap around the impeller, restricting movement.
If the fan is unable to spin properly, this can reduce water flow and filter efficiency.
Step 6: Reassemble the Filter
Once the impeller is checked and cleaned (or replaced), carefully reassemble the unit.
