What Do I Do If My Pond Freezes Over?

Modified on: Tue, 9 Apr, 2019 at 1:40 PM

A pond that has iced over can be dangerous for the health of your fish as it reduces oxygen. It is recommended that you do not break the ice as the shock waves of smashing ice can cause stress to your hibernating fish. Instead, you should melt the ice away using hot water.

See our blog post to find out more about getting rid of ice and preventing it from forming in the colder months.
