If your internal filter is not working, here are a few things to check to troubleshoot the issue.

Important: Always disconnect the mains electricity supply before handling or performing any maintenance on your filter. Be sure to read and check the troubleshooting section in your product's instruction manual first.

Steps to Troubleshoot Your Internal Filter:

  1. Inspect the Impeller and Shaft:

    • Open the filter unit and check the impeller and shaft for any damage, blockages, or clogs.
    • Ensure the plastic propeller part of the impeller is securely attached to the magnetic body. If it has come apart or split, this can affect the filter’s operation.
    • If the impeller or shaft is damaged or broken, they will need to be replaced. Replacement parts are available on our website.
  2. Check the Rubber Grommets:

    • Ensure there are two rubber grommets fitted on each end of the shaft or already inside the fittings. If these are missing or incorrectly placed, it can affect the performance of the filter.
  3. Ensure the Filter is Submerged:

    • Make sure the filter is fully submerged in the aquarium water. If the filter has run dry or is not completely underwater, it may not function properly.
  4. Check the Power Supply:

    • If the filter is completely dead, it may be a power issue. A replacement fuse could fix the problem if the unit isn’t turning on at all.
