It’s crucial that your aquarium is properly supported to ensure its safety and longevity.

Your cabinet should be at least the same size as the aquarium, if not larger. This ensures that all four sides of the aquarium are equally supported, preventing excess pressure on specific seams. Uneven support can weaken the joints, potentially causing splits and leaks, which could lead to serious damage to both the tank and the surrounding area.

Additionally, always ensure that your cabinet and aquarium are properly levelled. An unevenly placed cabinet can place unnecessary stress on certain seams, significantly increasing the risk of a split and subsequent leak.

Using polystyrene or foam underneath the tank can help, as it not only cushions the tank and keeps it level but also provides a slightly softer base, further reducing the chances of undue pressure on the seams.
