If you notice that your tank has started leaking, please follow these steps to diagnose the issue. Afterward, contact us with your findings so we can help resolve it quickly.
Check Equipment and Potential Blockages:
- Start by ensuring all interior equipment is functioning properly, including filters and spray bars.
- Look for any possible over-spilling or blockages, especially from the back of the filtration section.
Inspect for Condensation Leaks:
- If the leak appears to be coming from the bottom corners of the tank, it could be due to condensation buildup in the hood.
- Test for condensation: Remove the hood and allow the tank to air dry completely. Run the tank for 30 minutes to 1 hour to see if the leak persists.
Remove Livestock and Drain Water:
- If the leak continues, remove all livestock from the tank. If you do not have a holding tank, many local aquatics stores offer fish safekeeping services.
- Drain the water from the tank.
Inspect for Physical Damage:
- Look for any visible damage to the glass from accidental impacts caused by tank inhabitants, equipment, or ornaments like rocks or stones.
Conduct a Leak Test:
- After the initial inspection, remove the tank glass and place it in a safe outdoor location or another suitable area for testing.
- Fill the tank completely with water and leave it for 24 hours.
- Mark any drop in the water level with a non-permanent marker.
Check for Cabinet Water Damage:
- Inspect the cabinet or stand for any signs of water damage.
What to Do Next:
- After conducting the leak test, if you discover a genuine leak:
- Take clear photos of the affected area.
- Contact our Customer Service team with the photos, and we will help provide a suitable resolution.
By following these steps, you can accurately diagnose the issue and get the appropriate help.
